Welcome Gator Family as we reach the brink of another BIG V season we are looking for the support of the club to help our senior teams reach their lofty goals for Season 2020.
The Gators Family welcomes NBL Hall of Fame’r and Melbourne legend Lanard Copeland to the Swamp. “Copes” will guide our Division Two Men in Season 2020 as they look to break into finals and join the upper echelon of the leagues contenders. His coaching and playing experience in the NBL should serve our men very well as they commit to the high standards he sets.
We welcome back Sedale Threatt Jr. for his second season as the Head Coach of our Youth League Men supported by assistant coaches David Formosa and Rodney Clifford. Sedale’s enthusiasm mirrors his teams’ style of play as they had the top pace of play in all of BIG V and a finals appearance in his first season. 2020 will see a much more athletic group than 2019 and the expectations for this group would be sky high knowing how competitive our youth men’s coaching staff are. Our young men play with a brashness that makes for great viewing.
Our Youth League Women welcome assistant coach Emily Caruana back to the bench. We also welcome newcomer Chelsea Lewis who will add some experience and depth to an otherwise young group. The bulk of the 2019 team returns for the 2020 season and will look to build on their first round finals exit. Altona are still one of the youngest teams in the top competition and are led by last seasons MVP Jess Rarity. There is a massive opportunity for our young women to build on last seasons success. Ready or not?
Enough talk. Please get behind our Senior BIG V Teams as they pave the way for our courageous juniors who represent Altona every Friday night!
